Graeme Mitchell.

So much talent. I stumbled upon these photos while googling "Weaponry Editorial"... such a great find right? These photos speak for themselves. Big ups to the MUA and that crispy liner.

Terry Richardson for French Vogue.

Mind blown. So simple and to the point. These photos are how I want to perceive life at the moment. With their offensive, forcefully accepted content and gold plated breasts I am left awestruck. This post was especially exciting due to all of the buzz regarding Terry's "habits" on set. I say if you're going to be this chaotic, buzz inducing photographer you may as well get your creep on. Go Terry, get on with your bad bad self.

La Verne and Bianca.

A week or so ago I had the pleasure of working with my friend Ian Campbell... again. I must say there is some ridiculous goodness about doing makeup on the tailgate of a Jeep in the raw sunlight. Bianca's lovely caramel skin and perfect jerry curl set for an epic vision. We shot on some sunny California hillsides. Filmy gutter water, seas of dried grass and shadowy secret spots filled our day as we built what our imaginations had planned out. God damn I love my job.

Rebecca Caldwell.

A lovely Scottish woman by the aforementioned name contacted me to help her "revamp" her look. Since I was working with a beautiful canvas to begin with, this wasn't such a hard task. With a few outfits in mind and makeup looks pinned we nailed each look with utter success! Thank you to Neil for producing such wonderful photos. GO REBECCA!

Well it's a marvelous night...

FOR UPDATING MY BLOG. Eesh, Kali. Too long is TOO LONG. Maybe all of tonights margaritas, vegan tacos and ghost piano playing inspired me to get with the program. Lately I've been finding myself again for the 9,000th time this year with a little bit of a hippie movement in mind. I think this editorial NAILED exactly what tones and layers I'm looking for. Now only if I had a poof of ginger atop my head like the lovely Miss Cintia Dicker... sighhh.

MAC & Milk.

MAC had a little collaboration with Milk Studios NYC during fashion week. My Facebook husband, Jon Larsen, helped create this AMAZING video. I thought it was super impressive and totally blog worthy.

Chloe by Ian Campbell.

I recently worked with a friend of mine who goes by the name of Ian Campbell. His lovely girlfriend, Kristin, is a dear friend of mine and styled the subject on this day. It's always good to work with familiar faces... not to mention beautiful ones like Chloe's.

Futuristic hippies?

I really wish the two could hold hands amicably. This, however, is asking too much. Life's trials and errors have proved this true to me. The scenery in this editorial reminds me of living on the Big Island of Hawaii.

I bring you: "The Channels" featured in F/W '09 Pop Magazine. Prepare to dream large.

Vacation.

va·ca·tion (v-kshn, v-) n.
1. A period of time devoted to pleasure, rest, or relaxation, especially one with pay granted to an employee.

I really need one of those... especially the paid type. When I gazed upon these images I could only picture myself lounging around a breezy mid century home, all swanky in svelte clothing - doing nothing but enjoying life. I think a trip to Joshua Tree or perhaps good ol' Brooklyn is in the works, plans TBA. In the meantime I'll leave you with the above referred photos:

Step Into the Future.

I couldn't chose a more redeeming title for this blog. Knowing that the accompanying photos had been compiled into an editorial titled just that, I had to snag them. Life is rough and when it gets to be unbearable you have to realize that focusing on your future may be the only outlet that enhances the positives. I know I'm steppin'... are you?

Speechless...

I am awestruck by this editorial Nick Knight did for the February UK Vogue. When I glanced at these photos I had to rub my eyes to make sure what I was gazing at was actually real. These photos bring the following words to mind: unearthly, extraterrestrial, native unamerican, neosurrealism, atmospheric electrical phenomenon ... etc.

Dear Kenneth Anger,

You were a cinematic genius and captained a pirate ship from hell. Your brain leaves me seething with curiosity and fascination. You are currently peaking my inspiration list. Come find me and feed my dome your brilliance... (not like you'd read this anyhow).

Death,

Pastel hair is the new BLACK...

...okay maybe not the new black but this fad is surely pulling it's weight in the popularity department. I remember pulling these scans quite some time ago and really wanting to dye my hair. One of my hair dresser friends said, "Kali, honey. Those are wigs. You're not going to dye your hair light purple." WELL DUH THEY'RE WIGS, but what fun is that?
